The Power of Association

Conference Group 1
Date: 08 May, 2020

Now more that ever, being a part of something bigger is vital to achieve success.

By Peter Maddox, DSA Canada President

It has never been more apparent than during the COVID-19 pandemic that we need to be around others. Not only do individuals and groups feel better when they share, they also tend to have more success and are able to work on problems more effectively when they are a part of a community. In this light, industry togetherness is crucial to moving forward and reshaping the landscape.

Our Association has worked tirelessly over the past two months to ensure that all direct selling companies and their consultants are supported during this tough time. Collectively, we have won concessions on government support programs that initially excluded our participants, as well as providing a forum for members of all sizes to share problems, concerns, victories and best practices. As the Canadian economy changes, and some of our members thrive while others struggle to adapt, we are here to both help lead and serve our members.

There is still a lot of work to do, and we encourage both our members and not-yet-members to band together during these difficult times. Afterall, there is power in numbers and without wanting to sound too self-serving, more members equate to more power for the industry. Imagine how much more positivity we could achieve if we pulled together in the good times, as well as the bad. The challenges created by COVID-19 right now, and by regulators and other actors in the future, can be overcome. The needle of industry image can move significantly to the side of the favourable. The energy can become sustaining.

Becoming a part of DSA Canada provides you with crucial extra eyes and ears on the ground in this market. It empowers your staff to enjoy ongoing learning and an extended family of peers. It sends a clear signal to your consultants that you are committed to Canada and you support their success 100%. And it allows you to have your say in the direction we head.

To our members, thank you wholeheartedly for what you do for the entire industry. For non-members, come onboard, enjoy our events, use our resources, experience our unique Canadian camaraderie and make some instant life-long friends. You won’t regret it.
