Jack Millar is the Senior Partner at the law firm of Millar Kreklewetz LLP, a Canadian tax law firm with a specific focus on the Direct Selling Industry. Jack has been working with the Canadian Direct Sellers Association (DSA) and a large number of Member companies on all aspects of their businesses for over twenty-five years. Jack assists direct selling/MLM companies in establishing their direct selling business in Canada, including advising on the appropriate business structure, cross-border planning considerations and licensing and regulatory compliance requirements. Jack also assists clients in their on-going business operations, including competition law, income tax, GST/HST and sales tax, environmental levies, customs, trade, and regulatory matters that arise on a day-to-day basis.
Jack is a long standing Member of the Board of Directors of the DSA and acts as Tax Counsel. He has been awarded the Ivan P. Phelan Award for his outstanding contribution to the Direct Selling Industry in Canada and The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal which honours significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. Jack is also a Canadian representative on the NAFTA Bi-National Panel Roster.
Jack is on the Editorial Board of the Canadian Tax Journal and is a Past Chair of the CBA National Commodity Tax, Customs and Trade Section, and the Tax Committee of the Metropolitan Toronto Board of Trade. Jack has also served on numerous Government Committees dealing with tax and customs matters and has appeared before the Finance Committees of the House of Commons and the Senate.
